Not much has changed...

Well, I guess the title is very accurate...

Ashton is now six years old and is almost done with the Kindergarten school year. His last day is next Friday, June 26. He will enter first grade on July 6th. WOW this school year has flown by.

If any of you had not already heard, we are expecting our third baby. I am due on December 2nd which is the same day I was due. Crazy isn't it!?! I am hoping that this one doesn't come on my b-day (Nov 24), Joseph's (Nov 19), or Devi's (Nov 15) though. I want him/her to have a separate, special day. If this one follows the trend set by Ashton and Rebekah he/she will be born 21 days early! Ashton was 1 day early, Rebekah was 11 days early, so this one should be 21 days early right!?! I almost hope that the baby is born on the due date so that we don't have yet another November b-day in the family.

I felt the baby wiggling around for the first time yesterday! That was very exciting. I was laying down very still while resting on a break between cleaning and all of a sudden I felt little wiggles! It was awesome!

My doctor wants to wait until I am 20 weeks along to do another ultrasound, so we have about 3 1/2 weeks until we should find out what we're having this time. Any guesses?????

Our mini trip with Ya Ya

Ashton, Rebekah and I went on a mini trip yesterday with Ya Ya to Ventura. The trip was lots of fun but it took ALL day. We left our house at 8:45 AM and didn't return until 8:00ish at night! Ya Ya went to a luncheon for missionary moms in the So Cali area and the kids and I went out for a fun time at the beach. We found a fun little park area called Marina Park. There was a grassy area, picnic tables, a jungle gym area with beach sand in it, a giant pirate ship, and the beach of course. First we ate lunch, or rather MOMMY ate lunch, the kids were waaayyy to excited to eat! Then we played on the slides and swings. Then it was off to the pirate ship. There was a zip line coming off of the side of the priate ship that a bunch of other kids were playing on, Ashton stood in line until it was his turn and then he chickened out and decided it was way to scary for him. I even offered to let him ride on my back (monkey style!) and we could go on it together but he wouldn't go for that either. Rebekah REALLY wanted to go for a ride on it but I didn't think I was strong enough to hold the rope AND her. I pormised her that if we went back some time with daddy that he could take her on it. She is soooo brave! After the pirate ship we went rock climbing to get down to the beach. The water was too cold for Rebekah and so we didn't spend too much time down there. I guess she doesn't trust me very much not to drag her back in the water! We went back up to the playground area and I swear Rebekah had me pushing her on the swings for at least 25 minutes straight. I guess she takes after her mommy because the swings were always my favorite thing to do at recess in elementary school. The kids had tons of fun making sand angels, sand castles, and "sandmen" (our Cali version of a snowman! LOL) in the sandbox. Even though we were there for about 3 1/2 hours Ashton and Rebekah still weren't ready to leave when it was time to go pick up Ya Ya! By then of course it was time to head home in the middle of rush hour traffic. I think it took us about 3 1/2 hours to get home with our two bathroom stops along the way and a stop for In-N-Out fries for dinner! Fun day, but mommy sure was tired and the kids were desperately in need of a bath when we got home.

Kids same the funniest things sometimes...

The following is a copy of the letter Ashton wrote to Hunter today at Ya Ya's house. The italic portions are Gennie's commentary. I especially like the part where he talks about how missionaries dress and about Obama. Hope you enjoy!!!

Dear Uncle Hunter,

I really like you. I like you 3 wheeler in the garage. I want some X-Box stuff for my birthday (we don't have an X-Box, we have a Wii). My birthday is May 20th. I will be six years old! I want you to come back someday (Hunter comes home Sept. 16th, 2009). When you come back I want to play with you. At school I'm doing adding. And writing and syllables. At recess I like to ride the bikes... and scooters. My friends are Joseph and PJ. And RJ. PJ and RJ are cousins. They are both in my class. My favorite snack to take to school is Fruit-by-the foot. Strawberry is my favorite flavor (he recently learned how to read the word strawberry as well). I get on the smiley face everyday now. I like Rebakah, too. And you! I play princess with my sister (dress up is their favorite thing to do together. He dresses her up like she is his little baby doll and she LOVES it. I think they go through about 6 costume changes a day!!!). My favorite game is Hungry, Hungry Hippos. Whoever gets the most marbles wins. I always win! Rebekah plays too, but she only gets one. My favorite song at primary is "When Joseph went to Bethlehem." It's a Christmas song. My favorite song for Family Home Evening is "Follow the Prophet." You have to follow the prophet and Jesus. When you go on missions you get to wear clothes like the President of the United States. Obama is the president. Hope you already know that from on TV!!! Today at Ya Ya's house I painted the back wall with water in a bucket and a paint roller. But it dried. I also got to ride on my scooter. I watched a little bit of the food channel and Phinneas and Ferb (Disney Channel cartoon that's on in the afternoon) and Sponge Bob (I remember that Hunter used to watch Sponge Bob ALL the time as a kid! How funny.). I really like you doing good stuff like Jesus tells you, I like coloring on my new notebooks. That's All (he ends ALL of his letters to Hunter with, "That's All").

I love you
Ashton

Happy St. Patty's Day everyone

Well... I guess it has been quiet a while since the last posting now huh??? Happy St. Patty's Day everyone. I took the kids over to Ashton's school early this morning because the PTA was handing out goodies to all the children who came to school dressed in green. Last week the PTA sent home a note about the event and pointed out that nobody was allowed to pinch. Awww Man!!! As we walked in to the school all the little girls oohhed and awwed at Rebekah in her cute little green flowered dress. Rebekah is such a girly girl so she ate it right up too. Ashton is such a great brother... he held Rebekah's hand the whole time that they were in line together and then he helped her choose out a Tinker Bell ruler. Ashton chose out a shamrock pencil and they both were given a "Lucky Shamrock Coin" as well. It was fun to see some of the other kids with green streaks in their hair. Oh to be a kid again. Rebekah and I hung out for about another 45 minutes at school because it was also picture day at school today. I, of course, had to do a "is every hair in place???" check before his picture. After MUCH protest Ashton wore an argyle sweater over his St. Patty's Day shirt. He had promised me before I bought it that he WOULD wear his nice sweater but... today is the first time I was actually able to get him to wear it! Oh well.
